*** Lorenzo at CRUFTS ***

Each year at Crufts there's a Discover Dogs event. This year, from 6th to 9th March 2008, there'll be a number of UK owned Cirnechi, including Lorenzo, on display at Birmingham NEC (UK) in the Discover Dogs area. Lorenzo is scheduled to be there on the Saturday. Last year Lorenzo was present on the Friday with cousin Fame, and for a short while on Saturday, Hounds Day, when the Anharbn hounds from mid Wales took centre stage! Lorenzo made a noisy nusance of himself around the excellently behaved and gorgeous Anharbn hounds, so we spent a little time walking around the show, and made many new friends. Sadly, due to family illness, we were unable to attend on Sunday. See pictures of Lorenzo at the 2006 Crufts Cirneco stand here.

*** A bit about Lorenzo ***

Lorenzo was born to Milena on 2nd June 2005. Milena was the first KC registered Cirneco in the UK, and as no sire could be found here, she was artificially inseminated with sperm provided by Jane Moore's dog Piraino (IT CH), who lives in Italy. This resulted in but one male pup. Lorenzo is not the first UK born dog (that honour belongs to Rosy's litter in the summer of 2003 - more here), but I believe he is the first conceived and born here.

As an only pup, he had all the room and food he needed to grow into a splendid looking hound. However, this means he's developed as over-size for the breed, by 9 months old he was 52cm at the shoulder. Standard breed height is 46-50cm, with tolerance allowed to 52cm. He has been mistaken for a young Pharaoh Hound quite frequently. Lorenzo was always going to be a pet rather than a show dog, so his size is not important to us, and I admit he is rather spoilt, and has far too many toys!

*** Lorenzo blogs on MySpace!! ***

As a hip youngster, Lorenzo joins in the latest craze, chatting and blogging with his doggie (and human) friends on MySpace. Catch him at www.myspace.com/lorenzo_the_dog. You'll find some more relaxed and silly photos there, and some home movies too I suppose - not sure, as Lorenzo hasn't told me all the plans!!

*** Lorenzo at Earl's Court ***

The Kennel Club's Discover Dogs event took place on 11th & 12th November 2006 at Earls Court 2 in London. Several UK owned Cirnechi, including Lorenzo, were on hand during the weekend. Many thanks to the seemingly thousands who can came to meet us to find out first hand what these beautiful little hounds are like to live with. Pictures of our involvement in the event can be viewed here.

This was a kind of closing of the circle for us, as just 2 years before, at Discover Dogs 2004, we met Milena and her owners Maureen & Marina Foley. Immediately struck with how beautiful these hounds are, we asked Maureen to call us when Milena was expecting pups. The rest is history!

If you'd like a full original size picture, use the email link at the bottom of the page to contact us. Originals are at least twice the dimensions of pictures hosted here, and 3 or 4Mpix depending on which camera I used, suitable for printing at about 7" x 5", though I've done some at A4 and they still look great.
